I am shocked and dismayed to read of Ken's death. A loss to all especially his loving family and so many great dogs from the present and future. I was lucky to hunt with both Ken and Mark, and send my best to those left. This year as bird season rolls around will not be the same for me and everyone lucky enough to have hunted with Ken. Sail on Ken. Sadly, Richard

Marla Mark and Mike- I have known and hunted with Ken since the time he got his first bird dog, RBI. I too had my first bird dog about that time and we met while Bruce Ludwig was training our dogs, needless to say Bruce spent more time training us! This past year Ken trained my new dog for me and did a superb job. It was great to rekindle an old friendship. He was so proud of his kids and he was a great man. I know him and RBI are running around up there having fun. He will be missed down here! All my best to the family--Mike

First you must know our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones he leaves behind, that being said I hope he has gathered up his love once again and scouted the next best place to run our dogs and enjoy the sight of them in all their glory. Was it not for Ken many people would never know the full enjoyment of what working with a bird dog is, we are a small community growing readily because of great men/and women who are sportsmen in their soul and being in the field with your best hunting partner is an experience only a lucky few know, your father set forth a standard and his legacy will remain in the many prodigy that we will carry on with through the years in the middleton style god speed Ken hope the cover is great and the coveys are plenty just save some for me.

I just met Ken about a month ago regarding a puppy I am training. Ken graciously assessed our progress. In the short time I have known Ken, I could tell he was a good soul and enjoyed a good bit of humor. I believe all of our lives are better for having known him. To the family - my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mike, Marla and Mark, we are sorry for your loss. Uncle Ken was a terrific person and inspiration. He had a wonderful sense of humor and we enjoyed the opportunities to talk though far away. He even inspired Bill to listen to jazz music! God bless Ken and may he be with your Mom once again. Love Bill, Erin and Tessa

Being a new Hunter Ed Instructor, I appreciated having the chance to work with Ken earlier this year at the Jr. Pheasant Hunt. His experience and vast knowledge of upland hunting over dogs, was most impressive. But I was stuck by his obvious passion for passing on what he knew. Whether he was mentoring new instructors, or developing the skills, ethics, and appreciation of wildlife in youth hunters; it was obvious to me that Ken was absolutely doing what he was meant to do. Ken has made a huge impact on our sport, and me as well. My only comfort is the idea of a place where the fields are endless, the birds are plentiful, and for as long as the dogs are working the wind, Ken will be there.

Many years have passed since Ken and my paths crossed, but he has often come to mind. I have often asked about him from those I thought would know of him, and it was thru one of those that I learned of his passing. The thing I remember most about Ken was his sense of humor, and how I desired to experience it again. I will be unable to join you all to celebrate his life, but there should be some smiles there also, as he made do so. God Bless! Dave Mowen

Ken was a wonderful person and everything he did had a purpose- he to us was a wonderful baseball coach to our son, he taught Wyatt things in the three years that he will always remember and cherish. You are all in our thoughts and prayers, God Bless! Dan, Jill, Wyatt and Brianna

Dear Marla, Mark and Michael - I was shocked to learn of your wonderful Dad's sudden passing. And while I knew he trained lots of hunting dogs, I never realized how famous he really was in doing so. He was turly a remarkable man. May he rest in peace with the Lord and your precious Mom.

I had the pleasure of knowing both Ken & Barb since the late 1960's & am saddened they left us within days of each other & left so many behind. As we all know Ken was one of a kind & will always be remembered as such. RIP my old friend.............

Even though I have only known Ken for a little over a year now, he became a great friend and mentor. I feel that I am truly blessed to have been able to learn and appreciate his many talents and dedication. I was lucky enough to have him train one of my dogs and be able to use his stud dog pettie to breed to and create a litter in which we are extremely proud of and will continue to keep up with the high standards and prestige he has earned over the years. Our community has lost a great man and he will be greatly missed. My condolences go out to the family for their recent loss.

I had the pleasure of working with Ken at this years jr. pheasant hunt. He truley loved working with the kids. I remember him saying he'd do it all year if his wife would let him. He will be missed and I look forward to helping at next years event.
